University of Central Florida (UCF) DIG2500 Fundamentals of Interactive Design Final Practice Exam

Visibility serves as a key component in helping users understand how to interact effectively with a system or interface. When elements of an interface are visible and clearly presented, it becomes easier for users to comprehend what actions are available to them. Good visibility reduces user confusion and enhances the overall user experience by ensuring that users can intuitively identify functions and features without extensive guidance.

For example, if buttons, icons, and other interactive elements are prominently displayed and easily recognizable, users can readily discern what to click or select. This aligns with principles of usability, where clear and accessible design fosters a smooth interaction process. In contrast, options like constraints may limit user actions, mapping refers to the relationship between controls and their effects, and conceptual models help users form a mental image of how a system works. However, visibility is specifically focused on what is immediately perceivable, thereby serving as an essential guide for effective usage.
